Cotswold Filming Locations


With such wonderful Cotswold countryside, beautiful buildings, fabulous villages you won’t be surprised that the Cotswolds has been featured in many films and even a Japanese Diahatsu car advert (filmed in Lower Slaughter).

For fans of the delicious Aidan Turner, you will be pleased to hear that Poldark is filmed within the Cotswolds. The main Poldark Mansion is actually Chavenage House

Now if you like ‘Chick Flicks’ then for those who have seen ‘Bridget Jones’ the snow scene where Bridget returns home for Christmas was filmed in the village of Snowshill. The name Snowshill, means where the snow lies long but despite this fake snow had to be brought in to create the snowy wonderland.

We have mentioned Father Brown in a previous blog, and for fans of this super sleuth then the main Church used in the episodes is based in Blockley. The BBC have used numerous private homes throughout the Cotswolds region and some that are open to the public, including the beautiful and impressive Stanway House.

For those lovers of ITV’s Downton Abbey then the Cotswold village of Bampton featured as Downton’s village, ‘Yew Tree Farm’ was filmed at Cogges Manor Farm which is open to the public for people to explore.

If you are looking for some magic then Harry Potters’ Hogwarts School was filmed at Gloucester Cathedral
