Top tips on saving money on your rail tickets:
TIP 1. Try to purchase your train ticket to the Cotswolds as far in advance as possible, Great Western Railway (GWR) release their tickets 3 months in advance, often purchasing the 'advanced railway tickets' will be significantly cheaper, this is calculated automatically when you visit the ticket purchasing page on the website
TIP 2. It is always worth comparing buying a 'Return ticket' to Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds. The Return ticket will cover you journey from London Paddington to Moreton in Marsh and your return journey from Moreton in Marsh to London Paddington. Or it may be cheaper buying two 'single tickets' (i.e paying for your tickets as two seperate transactions)
TIP 3. If you are travelling to the Cotswolds as a group (3 or more) then you will be entitled to a 'Group Saver' ticket, if you pay for your tickets as one purchase, again this is calculated automatically.
TIP 4. If you are staying for a couple of nights in the Cotswolds then consider buying an 'Open Return' this ticket will allow you to take the return journey back to London within one month of visiting the Cotswolds. There is a tick box on the gwr ticket page for 'Open Return' . Always compare the price of the ticket to buying two single tickets which may work out cheaper depending on what time you are choosing to travel.
TIP 5. The cost of the train tickets vary depending on what time you choose to travel, many of our guests arrive at Moreton in Marsh Station at 9:59am as this is the cheaper price band, the train which leaves before and arrives at 9.25am is significantly more expensive as it is travelling during 'Peak' times.
Cotswolds Guided Tours is not responsible for any changes made to the train timetable, it is the responsibility of our guests to arrive in time for the tour to start.
As changes to this service may occur at short notice, we would advise checking on the day or the day before departure for any changes to the timetables, either visit www.gwr.com or telephone +44 (0)345 7 484950
Important Information about arriving by train on a Sunday:
Sunday’s: Please catch the train that arrives in Moreton in Marsh at 9.53am; there is a later train that arrives at 10.24, however we have experienced issues with this train so we would ask you not to use the 10.24 service. If you decide to book the 10.24am train & it arrives later that 10.30am unfortunately we will be unable to wait for you. We would ask that you do not book a return train until after 4.50pm just in case we encounter traffic on our way back to the railway station.
